The supporters of Eccles FC booed when Deus Al Nassr was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valeriu Lelescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maduabuchi Omorere struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Imran Enoch didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Eccles FC. Zikora Namadi came free in the 44th minute and tried to tip the ball over Idris Eze, but to the joy of Eccles FC's supporters the ball went over. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tobe Salako to make the kick off.
