Spectators: 6867 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1867, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Philip Idowu got the match started through his kick off. 4 minutes into the game, Lokon Okpongete was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grimsby City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bow United the free kick. The supporters of Bow United booed when Grimsby City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lokon Okpongete didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th match minute, Bow United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamzat Bolodeoku to maneuver through the defense. Joel Elumelu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chiagoziem Ewuga, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 21stth minute of the game Philip Idowu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grimsby City's Warman Adubasim was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Onochie Idiege took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Joel Elumelu. Bow United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Warman Adubasim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Idowu in the 27th minute of the match. Grimsby City's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Philip Idowu scored to the left of an out of position Warman Adubasim, making the score, 1-0. After having played for 37 minutes, Umar Anbalaga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grimsby City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Umar Anbalaga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Bow United's zone, Chukwuma Nwachukwu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Elumelu came out of the goal and Chukwuma Nwachukwu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Umar Anbalaga to strike the kick off in the second half. Joel Elumelu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Umar Anbalaga in the 51st minute of the match. Chiagoziem Ewuga kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Philip Idowu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Warman Adubasim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. Grimsby City's Warman Adubasim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philip Idowu in the 64th minute of play. Chukwuma Nwachukwu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Umar Anbalaga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chiagoziem Ewuga during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 73rd minute of the game. One of Grimsby City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bow United:s goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chukwuma Nwachukwu got free with Joel Elumelu in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zereokwu Igbinadolor kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Bow United's Joel Elumelu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Bow United from getting a goal against them. Umar Anbalaga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Joel Elumelu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Philip Idowu took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Warman Adubasim. Warman Adubasim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Bow United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Grimsby City had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
