Samson Chukwuma Omorere fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iroawuchi Adelabu having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Wootton Bassett's goal looked a bit too open when Omeokachie Ejem came free, but Iroawuchi Adelabu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iroawuchi Adelabu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oghogho Ajunwa in the 29th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Oghogho Ajunwa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ishaku Afunugo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Omeokachie Ejem in the 41st minute of play forced Wootton Bassett's goalkeeper Iroawuchi Adelabu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ishaku Afunugo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isaac Mochaa struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Somadina Lawal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wootton Bassett. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Wootton Bassett booed when New Orleans FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Akobundu Danladi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ishaku Afunugo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Iroawuchi Adelabu made a huge save. When the final whistle sounded New Orleans FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Wootton Bassett.
