The Marcellus FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When Fola Arowolo came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Marcellus FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fola Arowolo couldn't finish the play. 8 minutes into the match, Kettering's goal looked a bit too open when Abazu Abaku came free, but Iloabuchi Dandaraman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Chikwendu Ukpete fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marcellus FC's protests and gave Chikwendu Ukpete a yellow card for diving instead. In the 15th minute, Chikwendu Ukpete hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kettering's Chukwuraenye Abimbola couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 16th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Marcellus FC. In the 18th minute Chikwendu Ukpete suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. If Fola Arowolo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd match minute, Kettering was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Okolocha Felix Awu to maneuver through the defense. Chinagorom Adeyinka could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but William Ayoola made a huge save. If Fola Arowolo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Blessed Olutufese had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 31 played minutes Kettering got a freekick which was hit by Okolocha Felix Awu. In the 34th minute, Chidozie Akinola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

In the 55th minute, Chinagorom Adeyinka got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kettering's Chinagorom Adeyinka got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 63rdth minute of the game Chinagorom Adeyinka who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Marcellus FC's William Ayoola was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fola Arowolo got free with Iloabuchi Dandaraman in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Chinagorom Adeyinka managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kettering's supporters rose to their feet, but Chinagorom Adeyinka was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. William Ayoola breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 73rd minute of the match Marcellus FC got a corner. Kettering's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ola Ohai ran over to the corner to take the kick. Chinagorom Adeyinka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fidelis Omogo hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Abazu Abaku kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Fola Arowolo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iloabuchi Dandaraman having to interfere. Okolocha Felix Awu charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Okolocha Felix Awu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Okolocha Felix Awu hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The Marcellus FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Marcellus FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
