After some careless play in the Margate defense, Mallam Eneche kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tasiu Onwuzuruike. The Margate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tasiu Onwuzuruike should have stopped the shot. In the 8th minute, Onwubiko Shawulu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 12 minutes into the game, Margate's Raymond Akiti nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iroawuchi Ibileke made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 18 minutes into the game, Ozoemena Etete was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Margate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pirate Captain F.C the free kick. After 18 played minutes Margate got a freekick which was hit by Ozoemena Etete. Lam Abamba, 19 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The supporters of Margate booed when Pirate Captain F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Madukwe Atere didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Sylvester Aneke sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Pirate Captain F.C's Iroawuchi Ibileke didn't even have to move. Raymond Akiti's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iroawuchi Ibileke read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Nike Usideme charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nike Usideme the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th minute, Nike Usideme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 37 minutes of play, Margate's Raymond Akiti made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iroawuchi Ibileke was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nike Usideme hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. 46 minutes into the game, Mallam Eneche cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Tasiu Onwuzuruike was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adolphus Enebechi to strike the kick off in the second half. When Akabueze Dickson fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Margate's protests and gave Akabueze Dickson a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Margate getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Akabueze Dickson hit a great ball. Pirate Captain F.C's Iroawuchi Ibileke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adolphus Enebechi in the 55th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adolphus Enebechi in the 58th minute of play forced Pirate Captain F.C's goalkeeper Iroawuchi Ibileke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Margate's Adolphus Enebechi got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Raymond Akiti managed to get in a good position for a shot. Margate's supporters rose to their feet, but Raymond Akiti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iroawuchi Ibileke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 65 minutes into the match, Pirate Captain F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Adolphus Enebechi came free, but Iroawuchi Ibileke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adolphus Enebechi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pirate Captain F.C's goalkeeper Iroawuchi Ibileke, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Margate's Raymond Akiti got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adolphus Enebechi in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iroawuchi Ibileke prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 73 minutes of play, Margate's Adolphus Enebechi made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iroawuchi Ibileke was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Adolphus Enebechi in the 77th minute of play forced Pirate Captain F.C's goalkeeper Iroawuchi Ibileke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Akabueze Dickson got his second yellow card in the match during the 81st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Pirate Captain F.C booed when Margate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Akabueze Dickson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 83 minutes, Raymond Akiti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Margate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raymond Akiti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 84th match minute, Pirate Captain F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Goodness Omotayo to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Pirate Captain F.C's zone, Raymond Akiti stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iroawuchi Ibileke came out of the goal and Raymond Akiti tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 90 minutes into the match, Margate's Bosun Ochiagha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iroawuchi Ibileke narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ozoemena Etete received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Iroawuchi Ibileke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mallam Eneche struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Tasiu Onwuzuruike didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pirate Captain F.C. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Margate fans cheered their team off the field, for while Pirate Captain F.C had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
