The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Samson Etoh Nwanguma fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Feranmi cf's protests and gave Samson Etoh Nwanguma a yellow card for diving instead. 7 minutes into the game, one of Feranmi cf:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Marcellus FC a penalty, 9 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ola Ohai, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Feranmi cf's Aderemi Ballah. 0-1. Ugonna Benneth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 1-1 became the score in the 19th minute when Ugonna Benneth elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Ugonna Benneth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Ayoola having to interfere. When Chikwendu Ukpete fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marcellus FC's protests and gave Chikwendu Ukpete a yellow card for diving instead. Chikwendu Ukpete kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Marcellus FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ugonna Benneth came free, but William Ayoola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ugonna Benneth in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck William Ayoola prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Fola Arowolo came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Marcellus FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fola Arowolo couldn't finish the play. William Ayoola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ugonna Benneth in the 34th minute of play. Abazu Abaku scored 1-2 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aderemi Ballah, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ugonna Benneth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Ayoola having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Marcellus FC's Fola Arowolo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aderemi Ballah narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fola Arowolo to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Abazu Abaku hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ndukaku Eyitayo, 52 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Ugonna Benneth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. William Ayoola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Feranmi cf booed when Marcellus FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Opemipo Brown Agunu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Udokamma Ribadu fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Feranmi cf's protests and gave Udokamma Ribadu a yellow card for diving instead. Udokamma Ribadu kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. After having played for 66 minutes, Godwin Ismaila Taiwo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Feranmi cf's supporters crossed their fingers, but Godwin Ismaila Taiwo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Ugonna Benneth came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Feranmi cf fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ugonna Benneth couldn't finish the play. In the 70th minute, Abazu Abaku ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aderemi Ballah was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Ugonna Benneth managed to get in a good position for a shot. Feranmi cf's supporters rose to their feet, but Ugonna Benneth was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. William Ayoola breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Fola Arowolo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Onyeka Shehuri hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. 95 minutes into the match, Ugonna Benneth had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of William Ayoola. Marcellus FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ugonna Benneth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3.
