With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chikwendu Aiyetan in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eseme Daika saved Fleetwood City from getting behind. In the 25thth minute of the game Okwukwe Obadiah who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fleetwood City's Eseme Daika was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Morecambe booed when Fleetwood City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yussuf Akinsehinde didn't get a good kick on the ball. Morecambe's Chikwendu Aiyetan got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Chikwendu Aiyetan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Morecambe's supporters rose to their feet, but Chikwendu Aiyetan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eseme Daika breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Yussuf Akinsehinde fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fleetwood City's protests and gave Yussuf Akinsehinde a yellow card for diving instead. After 47 played minutes Fleetwood City got a freekick which was hit by Yussuf Akinsehinde. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Okwukwe Obadiah made a kick off. If Chikwendu Aiyetan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. After 69 played minutes Fleetwood City got a freekick which was hit by Yussuf Akinsehinde. 70 minutes into the match, Morecambe's Chikwendu Aiyetan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eseme Daika narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Fleetwood City's Nebeuwa Eboh got a free kick in the 75th minute. Kodilinyechukwu Amagu struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Eseme Daika didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Morecambe. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chikwendu Aiyetan got free with Eseme Daika in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 85 minutes Fleetwood City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Nweke Naeche who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Morecambe's corner Nweke Naeche fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Eseme Daika quite easily take care of the ball. In the 86th minute Okwukwe Obadiah shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eseme Daika saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Okwukwe Obadiah sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
