The supporters of RIVERS UNITED booed when Chelsea FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mannaseh Adejoh didn't get a good kick on the ball. RIVERS UNITED's Dike Balogun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Okoli Madugu in the 15th minute of play. The tension between the Chelsea FC and the RIVERS UNITED players grew even worse after the yellow card. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Bukar Eikhali stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Madukaego Madumere's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. If Bamidele Monday Edozien had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ajayi Olumuyiwa Aganun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bukar Eikhali having to interfere. 33 minutes into the match, Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Bukar Eikhali had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Madukaego Madumere. When Jacob Nalaya came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the RIVERS UNITED fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacob Nalaya couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute, Ajayi Olumuyiwa Aganun made a precise shot to the right of Bukar Eikhali. Chelsea FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After 48 played minutes Chelsea FC got a freekick which was hit by Mannaseh Adejoh. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Madukaego Madumere made the kick off in the second half. Bamidele Monday Edozien might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bukar Eikhali. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bamidele Monday Edozien ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ajayi Olumuyiwa Aganun in the 54th minute of play forced Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Bukar Eikhali to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Madukaego Madumere's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bukar Eikhali was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Madukaego Madumere in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bukar Eikhali prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Okoli Madugu was extremely unlucky when he, in the 69th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 72 minutes into the match, Ajayi Olumuyiwa Aganun had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bukar Eikhali. Chelsea FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ajayi Olumuyiwa Aganun was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Jacob Nalaya kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Bukar Eikhali took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacob Nalaya, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Madukaego Madumere in the 79th minute of play forced Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Bukar Eikhali to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacob Nalaya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bukar Eikhali having to interfere. Bamidele Monday Edozien blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bukar Eikhali having to make a save. Ajayi Olumuyiwa Aganun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bukar Eikhali having to interfere. Chelsea FC's Bukar Eikhali played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacob Nalaya in the 92nd minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Bamidele Monday Edozien got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bamidele Monday Edozien sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. RIVERS UNITED walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
