Sutton Valence's Azuka Obasa got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manga Lartey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osonduagwuike Obeleagu in the 10th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the game, Itimi Hananias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Derby AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sutton Valence the free kick. After 22 played minutes Derby AFC got a freekick which was hit by Itimi Hananias. Gorom Ndupuechi hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Azuka Obasa in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manga Lartey saved Derby AFC from getting behind. If Mezie Roro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Azuka Obasa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sutton Valence's supporters rose to their feet, but Azuka Obasa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manga Lartey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chiazagomekpele Aiyetan hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Gorom Ndupuechi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Manga Lartey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ajuluchukwu Gulma came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Derby AFC's Shola Achebo. But to his dismay, Shola Achebo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The supporters of Derby AFC booed when Sutton Valence was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gorom Ndupuechi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sutton Valence's zone, Mezie Roro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ajuluchukwu Gulma came out of the goal and Mezie Roro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mezie Roro struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Ajuluchukwu Gulma didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Derby AFC. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Sutton Valence's Osonduagwuike Obeleagu got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Manga Lartey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Azuka Obasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. 63 minutes into the match, Azuka Obasa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Manga Lartey, 1-1. 69 minutes into the game, Nonye Sasore was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sutton Valence's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Derby AFC the free kick. Nonye Sasore kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Mezie Roro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ajuluchukwu Gulma was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. During the 72nd minute of the match Itimi Hananias completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Itimi Hananias a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Itimi Hananias hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. The supporters of Sutton Valence booed when Derby AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dahiru Khumbotso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ezekiel Ademodi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Manga Lartey.
