Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mezie Roro started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ijeagha Dimeji during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 11 minutes, Mezie Roro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Derby AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mezie Roro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 14 minutes into the match, Carterton United's goal looked a bit too open when Mezie Roro came free, but Obika Ajah reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 18th minute, Obafemi Adodo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manga Lartey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Titilayo Abbey, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After 27 played minutes Derby AFC got a freekick which was hit by Itimi Hananias. In the 29th minute, Chike Abacha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carterton United's Obika Ajah proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Carterton United from getting a goal against them. Emmanuel Okon Alechenu kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Chike Abacha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Titilayo Abbey got free with Manga Lartey in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 57 played minutes Derby AFC got a freekick which was hit by Itimi Hananias. Shola Achebo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Obika Ajah having to make a save. Mezie Roro might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Obika Ajah. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mezie Roro ran back to his position shaking his head. Obafemi Adodo hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Obika Ajah stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mezie Roro's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Chiazagomekpele Aiyetan's late challenge caught a Carterton United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chiazagomekpele Aiyetan helped the player get up and apologised. Chiazagomekpele Aiyetan kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Obika Ajah came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Derby AFC's Mezie Roro. But to his dismay, Mezie Roro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Shola Achebo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Obika Ajah having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chike Abacha in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manga Lartey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dahiru Khumbotso charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dahiru Khumbotso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Derby AFC's Dahiru Khumbotso got a free kick in the 85th minute. Manga Lartey made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Titilayo Abbey sent off a good shot on target. Titilayo Abbey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Manga Lartey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manga Lartey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chike Abacha in the 93rd minute of play. Derby AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
