After 4 played minutes Gold got a freekick which was hit by Ozuluonye Alachi. If Uka Achima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Meols's Uka Achima got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Akobundu Adar made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Juwon Adebanjo sent off a good shot on target. After 19 played minutes Meols got a freekick which was hit by Duncan Umanah. Meols's Ekpekurede Aro got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gabriel Odigie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ekpekurede Aro's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Gold's goal looked a bit too open when Abayomi Ningi came free, but Gabriel Odigie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Abayomi Ningi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Meols fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 46th minute, David Ageeh Okechukwu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Gold players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Meols were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Uka Achima was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes, Uka Achima made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Gold's Gabriel Odigie tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. David Ageeh Okechukwu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Meols's Chikwendu Saleh shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 60th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gabriel Odigie but with some difficulty. Gabriel Odigie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duncan Umanah, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Ekpekurede Aro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gabriel Odigie having to make a save. An unexpected shot in the 74th minute by Uka Achima got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Ekpekurede Aro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 82 played minutes Gold got a freekick which was hit by Obiora Akinyugha. Gabriel Odigie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Uka Achima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th minute, Meols's Uka Achima dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. In the 92nd minute Uka Achima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Odigie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Obiora Akinyugha fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gold's protests and gave Obiora Akinyugha a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Gold's Obiora Akinyugha got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Gold's Gabriel Odigie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uka Achima in the 94th minute of play. Akobundu Adar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Ageeh Okechukwu in the 95th minute of play. Duncan Umanah kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Meols left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Gold.
