Spectators: 8440 (Terracing: 6331, Seating: 1941, VIP seats: 168) Haywards Heath FC's Chuka Auyo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute Abiodun Oyewumi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bola Akinyele saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ogochukwu Esin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Ekwueme Olaniyi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Desto's supporters rose to their feet, but Ekwueme Olaniyi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kodilinye Kofa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bola Akinyele took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abiodun Oyewumi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the game, Chuka Auyo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Bola Akinyele was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chuka Auyo in the 19th minute of play forced Desto's goalkeeper Bola Akinyele to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ekenedilichukwu Ojumola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Bola Akinyele tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the game, Ogochukwu Esin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Kodilinye Kofa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 27th minute, Chuka Auyo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bola Akinyele was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. If Ogochukwu Esin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Chuka Auyo fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Haywards Heath FC's protests and gave Chuka Auyo a yellow card for diving instead. Chuka Auyo hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Bola Akinyele showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chuka Auyo in the 33rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Haywards Heath FC's zone, Mojolaoluwa Abugu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kodilinye Kofa came out of the goal and Mojolaoluwa Abugu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Mojolaoluwa Abugu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Ekwueme Olaniyi fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Desto's protests and gave Ekwueme Olaniyi a yellow card for diving instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

52 minutes into the match, Haywards Heath FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ogochukwu Esin came free, but Kodilinye Kofa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute, Ogochukwu Esin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kodilinye Kofa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Desto's Lam Okoroanyanwu got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Danny Ekwueme during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Danny Ekwueme hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. 66 minutes into the game, Ogochukwu Esin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Kodilinye Kofa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 73 minutes into the game, Desto's Ekwueme Olaniyi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kodilinye Kofa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. After 76 minutes, Lam Okoroanyanwu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Desto and the Haywards Heath FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Desto's Lam Okoroanyanwu got a free kick in the 76th minute. Bola Akinyele was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Chuka Auyo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-3 in the 78 minute of play. Bola Akinyele made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ekenedilichukwu Ojumola in the 81st minute. Ekwueme Olaniyi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
