Eddy Achilike showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bankole Abdu in the 17th minute of the match. Ijeagha Odizor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. William Okwaraji tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. William Okwaraji showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ime Agoro in the 26th minute of the match. Frank Ohajuruka hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Hornchurch's Ime Agoro pulled a muscle in his leg after 32 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After a rather tough play, Banfield's Tafawa Adebote got a free kick in the 33rd minute. William Okwaraji made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ijeagha Odizor in the 45th minute of play. William Okwaraji took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ijeagha Odizor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bankole Abdu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 75th minute Ekenedilichukwu Uchendu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eddy Achilike saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nwokike Adaga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddy Achilike having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Nwabugwu Adekemi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Tasiu Omeokachie in the 90th minute really tested William Okwaraji's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ijeagha Odizor got free with William Okwaraji in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. William Okwaraji didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ijeagha Odizor went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When the match was over Hornchurch could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Banfield throughout the match.
