Boniface Ephraim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Labaran Nwaiwu made a huge save. Bawa Lele hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Yate FC's Bankole Moses played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ibeamaka Okwuono in the 17th minute of play. The supporters of Castle football academy booed when Yate FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chinonyelum Iwuanyanwu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Castle football academy's zone, Boniface Ephraim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Labaran Nwaiwu came out of the goal and Boniface Ephraim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Castle football academy's Labaran Nwaiwu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chukwufumnanya Oliseh in the 22nd minute of play. Labaran Nwaiwu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chukwufumnanya Oliseh in the 24th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 26th minute of the game. One of Castle football academy:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Yate FC:s goal. In the 27th minute there was a penalty for Yate FC. Chukwueloka Onyewuchi stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Labaran Nwaiwu. 1-0. In the 29th match minute, Castle football academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nebe Obiabo to maneuver through the defense. Jolaoya Abbey charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jolaoya Abbey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After having played for 35 minutes, Chukwufumnanya Oliseh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yate FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chukwufumnanya Oliseh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Boniface Ephraim succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 37th playminute. Chinonyelum Iwuanyanwu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Labaran Nwaiwu having to interfere. When Tochi Amarachi, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 43 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Bankole Moses was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Boniface Ephraim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Labaran Nwaiwu made a huge save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Tochi Amarachi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castle football academy's supporters rose to their feet, but Tochi Amarachi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bankole Moses breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chinonyelum Iwuanyanwu's late challenge caught a Castle football academy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chinonyelum Iwuanyanwu helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Castle football academy booed when Yate FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chinonyelum Iwuanyanwu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 62 minutes into the game, Ibeamaka Okwuono cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Bankole Moses was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 68th minute Tochi Amarachi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bankole Moses saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bankole Moses was a little too slow when Tochi Amarachi got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 72nd minute. The score was now 2-3. In the 78th minute of the match Olamide Adejumobi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Labaran Nwaiwu skillfully saved the ball.
