Effiong Adegunloye showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bala Abdullahi, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Beacon united's Shawai Adaramoye sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kodilinye Bagudo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Shawai Adaramoye struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Kodilinye Bagudo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Beacon united. Diamond fc's Kodilinye Bagudo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shawai Adaramoye in the 22nd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Bala Abdullahi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Effiong Adegunloye. Beacon united's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bala Abdullahi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 28 minutes, Chibueze Kamba mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Diamond fc and the Beacon united players grew even worse after the yellow card. Olasunkanmi Amaechina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Effiong Adegunloye tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cletus Cletus Anosike could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Kodilinye Bagudo made a huge save. Chibueze Kamba was shown his second yellow card after 44 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 45th match minute, Diamond fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chibueze Kamba to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Amauchenna Ejem from long distance, 46 minutes into the match, got Kodilinye Bagudo's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 48th minute, Mbadiwe Awolowo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Shawai Adaramoye to strike the kick off in the second half. After 57 played minutes Beacon united got a freekick which was hit by Hakeem Adedokun. With a little luck, Beacon united's Effiong Adegunloye got control of the ball when Bala Abdullahi tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Beacon united booed when Diamond fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olasunkanmi Amaechina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Shawai Adaramoye fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kodilinye Bagudo having to interfere. Kodilinye Bagudo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shawai Adaramoye, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. 74 minutes into the match, Diamond fc's goal looked a bit too open when Cletus Cletus Anosike came free, but Kodilinye Bagudo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Shawai Adaramoye's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kodilinye Bagudo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Beacon united's Effiong Adegunloye proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Beacon united from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Diamond fc's zone, Cletus Cletus Anosike stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kodilinye Bagudo came out of the goal and Cletus Cletus Anosike tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Diamond fc's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
