Chinwenma Okiche kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Nweke Kolapo's late challenge caught a West 6 FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nweke Kolapo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th match minute, Thatcham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nweke Kolapo to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Thatcham's Chinwenma Okiche dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Tijjani Zubairu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inaku Abioye having to interfere. Hammed Aiyetan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chinwenma Okiche, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Inaku Abioye made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Okorie Aro in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Chinwenma Okiche dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Hammed Aiyetan, 3-0. Eluemuno Salako received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hammed Aiyetan came out and tried to block the shot, but Eluemuno Salako slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 36th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Chinwenma Okiche managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thatcham's supporters rose to their feet, but Chinwenma Okiche was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hammed Aiyetan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Onyeka Layeni got free with Hammed Aiyetan in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Inaku Abioye showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Okorie Aro, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Thatcham's Inaku Abioye played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stanley Arinze Dickson in the 44th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Thatcham's Chinwenma Okiche slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Hammed Aiyetan. That made the score 5-0 after 46 minutes of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Okorie Aro to make the kick off.
