The crowd rose to their feet as Kambina Datoru kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Godwin Azubuike. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kambina Datoru in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Godwin Azubuike saved Birmingham from getting behind. Godwin Azubuike took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emelogu Oruma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romanus Isiaq in the 19th minute of play forced Leicester's goalkeeper Enang Akosu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 20th minute by Dan Mbonu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Godwin Azubuike came out of the goal and Kambina Datoru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 35th minute, Dan Mbonu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Godwin Azubuike was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Godwin Azubuike made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emelogu Oruma in the 42nd minute. 44 minutes into the match, Birmingham's goalkeeper Godwin Azubuike had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dan Mbonu. If Dan Mbonu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Birmingham's Godwin Azubuike played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kambina Datoru in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Birmingham's goal looked a bit too open when Tobenna Abulu came free, but Godwin Azubuike reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leicester's Dan Mbonu got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Innocent Eli Azuh fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Birmingham's protests and gave Innocent Eli Azuh a yellow card for diving instead. In the 57th match minute, Birmingham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Innocent Eli Azuh to maneuver through the defense. Chiefo Ekata's late challenge caught a Birmingham's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chiefo Ekata helped the player get up and apologised. In the 70th match minute, Leicester was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chiefo Ekata to maneuver through the defense. Godwin Azubuike showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tobenna Abulu in the 72nd minute of the match. If Kambina Datoru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dan Mbonu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Godwin Azubuike tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Romanus Isiaq sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Birmingham's Kiru Amadasu got a free kick in the 90th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kambina Datoru in the 91st minute of play forced Birmingham's goalkeeper Godwin Azubuike to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute, Mobi Omachonu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leicester fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. When the referee ended the match the Leicester players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
