The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute of the game Obinna Omolade made a throw-in which Onuchukwu Olerum played forward. Ijeagha adegbenjo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Daniel united's Ijeagha adegbenjo in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Diss's goalie prevented a goal. Clever Akpala made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Ijeagha adegbenjo sent off a good shot on target. Ijeagha adegbenjo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ijeagha adegbenjo struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Clever Akpala didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Daniel united. 18 minutes into the match, Diss's goal looked a bit too open when Ijeagha adegbenjo came free, but Clever Akpala reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Diss's zone, Ijeagha adegbenjo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clever Akpala came out of the goal and Ijeagha adegbenjo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ijeagha adegbenjo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Clever Akpala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Daniel united's goal looked a bit too open when Tajudeen Ajanaku came free, but Aderounmu Njoku reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Akpan Hashimu fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Daniel united's protests and gave Akpan Hashimu a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Diss booed when Daniel united was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Akpan Hashimu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 28 minutes, Ijeagha adegbenjo made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Diss's Clever Akpala tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Clever Akpala made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ijeli Mbong in the 31st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Diss's Tajudeen Ajanaku got a free kick in the 36th minute. Aderounmu Njoku showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ositadimma Odiaka in the 39th minute of the match. During the 45th minute of the match Akpan Hashimu completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Akpan Hashimu a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Onuchukwu Olerum to make the kick off. Diss's Clever Akpala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ijeagha adegbenjo in the 56th minute of play. Bamisile Aghanya recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ijeagha adegbenjo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clever Akpala having to interfere. In the 65th minute Ijeagha adegbenjo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clever Akpala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clever Akpala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ijeagha adegbenjo in the 66th minute of the match. In the 71stth minute of the game Ijeagha adegbenjo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Diss's Clever Akpala was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Ijeagha adegbenjo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Clever Akpala was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Emelogu Okechi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Clever Akpala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ijeagha adegbenjo in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clever Akpala saved Diss from getting behind. Clever Akpala took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ijeagha adegbenjo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clever Akpala made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ijeagha adegbenjo in the 87th minute of play. Diss's Onuchukwu Olerum got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
