After 9 minutes, Josh Robinson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dover and the Westerham players grew even worse after the yellow card. Phil Cousins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Loyd Pearch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute Alex Lanyon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lee Swallow saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Joshua Frost had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lee Swallow made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Lanyon in the 27th minute of play. After having played for 30 minutes, Joshua Frost managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Westerham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joshua Frost was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lee Swallow showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Lanyon in the 33rd minute of the match. Alex Lanyon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lee Swallow having to interfere. Alex Lanyon took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lee Swallow . Lee Swallow dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Phil Cousins made a kick off. Phil Cousins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Loyd Pearch having to interfere. Alex Lanyon struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Lee Swallow didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Westerham. A collision led to Westerham getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Sammy Lagdon hit a great ball. Alex Lanyon's late challenge caught a Dover's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alex Lanyon helped the player get up and apologised. After 69 played minutes Westerham got a freekick which was hit by Alex Lanyon. 73 minutes into the match, Westerham's Alex Lanyon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lee Swallow narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Loyd Pearch went to the wrong direction when Gerry Symons was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Phil Cousins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Loyd Pearch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. John Bastow kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Cody Reid Clanny who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Loyd Pearch when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Cody Reid Clanny had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Phil Cousins 's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Loyd Pearch was relentless in the 91st minute of the game.
