In the 18th minute Caleb Potter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Ballantine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Woodmancote United's Ken Bradfield got control of the ball when John Heywood tried to sneak it across the goal line. Phil Crocker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Tommy Ballantine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, North Petherton FC's Martin Westwood got a free kick in the 27th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Martin Wright managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Woodmancote United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Wright was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 38 minutes in the game, George McGuinness fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ken Bradfield having to interfere. Ken Bradfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George McGuinness in the 41st minute of play. Tommy Ballantine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caleb Potter in the 43rd minute of play. George McGuinness received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Ken Bradfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by John Heywood in the 53rd minute of play forced Woodmancote United's goalkeeper Ken Bradfield to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Woodmancote United's Martin Wright got a free kick in the 54th minute. 57 minutes into the game, Martin Wright was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Woodmancote United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave North Petherton FC the free kick. The supporters of North Petherton FC booed when Woodmancote United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Wright didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Woodmancote United defense, Blair Craven kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ken Bradfield . The Woodmancote United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ken Bradfield should have stopped the shot. Casey Scholes shot the penalty kick right outside the post. After 68 played minutes North Petherton FC got a freekick which was hit by Dan Styles . In the 69th minute, Caleb Potter reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Tommy Ballantine. The goal made the score 2-1. In the 73rd match minute, Woodmancote United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phil Crocker to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute, John Heywood left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The North Petherton FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Tommy Ballantine was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Caleb Potter capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Caleb Potter really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. Tod Stead sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tod Stead got free with Tommy Ballantine in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee ended the match the North Petherton FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
