The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Par AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after John Bateman fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. John Bateman struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Maik Hardy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avebury AFC. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Avebury AFC's goalkeeper Crispin Gordon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Crispin Gordon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Everett , who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Pete Larham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Crispin Gordon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dave Rose kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Crispin Gordon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pete Larham in the 20th minute of play. Pete Larham took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Crispin Gordon. Crispin Gordon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Avebury AFC's John Bateman slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Maik Hardy . That made the score 1-1 after 26 minutes of play. Avebury AFC's John Bateman got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dave Rose kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Crispin Gordon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pete Larham , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pete Larham in the 42nd minute of play forced Avebury AFC's goalkeeper Crispin Gordon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rupert MacLaverty hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match.

The wind increased when John Bateman made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Par AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Button to maneuver through the defense. When Silvester Beadle came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Avebury AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvester Beadle couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Silvester Beadle in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maik Hardy saved Par AFC from getting behind. If Silvester Beadle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute John Bateman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maik Hardy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maik Hardy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Bateman, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. After a rather tough play, Avebury AFC's Rupert MacLaverty got a free kick in the 74th minute. The audience was convinced that Pete Larham 's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Crispin Gordon was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pete Larham in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Crispin Gordon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 83rd minute Pete Larham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Crispin Gordon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Par AFC's Maik Hardy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Bateman in the 85th minute of play. When Michael Button fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Par AFC's protests and gave Michael Button a yellow card for diving instead. Michael Button kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. If John Bateman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, Par AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Silvester Beadle came free, but Maik Hardy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, Avebury AFC's goalkeeper Crispin Gordon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tommy Everett . The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Par AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
