Spectators: 6839 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1839, VIP seats: 0) Alston's Patrick Salmon started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dave Giugno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Bartram in the 8th minute of the match. Reuben Dawson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Billy Eastwood having to make a save. In the 11thth minute of the game Reuben Dawson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Alston's Billy Eastwood was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Vance Golding came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Welford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vance Golding couldn't finish the play. Billy Eastwood stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reuben Dawson 's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. 35 minutes into the match, Welford's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Salmon came free, but Dave Giugno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Welford's Alexander Rice got a free kick in the 35th minute. Patrick Salmon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Patrick Salmon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Dave Giugno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Henry Bartram 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dave Giugno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Reuben Dawson to strike the kick off in the second half. Billy Eastwood came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Welford's Reuben Dawson . But to his dismay, Reuben Dawson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 59 minutes into the match, Andrew Bibby had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Billy Eastwood . Alston's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andrew Bibby was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. When John Cornforth fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Welford's protests and gave John Cornforth a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Welford's John Cornforth got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Joseph Poynton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dave Giugno having to interfere. Billy Eastwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vance Golding , who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 72nd minute Reuben Dawson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Billy Eastwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bob Odell hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Welford's Vance Golding got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Vance Golding managed to get in a good position for a shot. Welford's supporters rose to their feet, but Vance Golding was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Billy Eastwood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Welford booed when Alston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bob Odell didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Welford's Alexander Rice got a free kick in the 88th minute. Alston's Patrick Salmon got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stewart Reed hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. If Henry Bartram had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Welford had played much better football throughout.
