In the 4th minute, Blackheath's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Reuben Dawson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a rather tough play, Welford's Vance Golding got a free kick in the 8th minute. Vance Golding fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rhys Digby having to interfere. Brian Dwyer hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Dave Giugno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bradley Blewitt in the 47th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reuben Dawson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 65th match minute, Blackheath was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryan Lewington to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 73 minutes, Vance Golding managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Welford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vance Golding was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alexander Rice received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Rhys Digby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Blackheath booed when Welford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reuben Dawson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeremy Daly could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Dave Giugno made a huge save. Dave Giugno made an important save on a dangerous shot by Biagio Censi in the 89th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Welford's zone, Ray Hay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexander Rice lost his temper 96 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 95 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Welford! Dave Giugno went to the wrong direction when Biagio Censi was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Blackheath played a much better game than Welford and deserved their victory. The Welford players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
