In the 18th minute, Danny Cotterill got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Northwood getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Steve Machin hit a great ball. Northwood's Barrie Price proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Northwood from getting a goal against them. Dennis Gower fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barrie Price having to interfere. Asot's Danny Cotterill got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Garth Blunt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leigh Lewis having to interfere. 35 minutes into the game, Steve Holden cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Leigh Lewis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Danny Cotterill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dennis Gower to make the kick off. Barrie Price made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Gower in the 53rd minute of play. Dennis Gower fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barrie Price having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Dennis Gower ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Barrie Price was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 64 minutes into the game, Danny Cotterill cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Barrie Price was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Asot's Leigh Lewis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steve Holden in the 71st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Seamus Paisley during the 80th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 80th minute, Seamus Paisley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Leigh Lewis was out of position in the 83 minute of play, and Steve Holden capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Steve Holden really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. When Steve Holden came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Northwood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steve Holden couldn't finish the play. Leigh Lewis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steve Holden in the 91st minute of the match. 93 minutes into the game, Steve Holden cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Northwood eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
