Spectators: 6838 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1838, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Harry Crossman got the match started through his kick off. Staithes's Seth Willoughby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Beckwith in the 9th minute of play. Harry Crossman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Damon Gold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Damon Gold made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Pierre Daly sent off a good shot on target. When Jimmy Hargreaves came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Alderney fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jimmy Hargreaves couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Alderney's Lloyd Eubank got a free kick in the 17th minute. Alderney's Damon Gold proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Alderney from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Alderney's zone, Harry Crossman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Damon Gold came out of the goal and Harry Crossman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Alderney's Damon Gold got control of the ball when Pierre Daly tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jimmy Hargreaves 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Seth Willoughby read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After 32 minutes of play, Alderney's Jimmy Hargreaves made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Seth Willoughby was left in no man's land by his defense there! If John Beckwith had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Franz Lynam hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Jimmy Hargreaves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 47 minutes, Pierre Daly mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Staithes and the Alderney players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th match minute, Staithes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierre Daly to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Alderney were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Jerome Cook 's late challenge caught a Staithes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Pierre Daly managed to get in a good position for a shot. Staithes's supporters rose to their feet, but Pierre Daly was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damon Gold breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Jimmy Hargreaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Staithes's Dom Tindale suffered a sore foot after 61 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andre Caine during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Andre Caine hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Seth Willoughby made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Jimmy Hargreaves sent off a good shot on target. Harry Crossman charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Harry Crossman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Damon Gold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pierre Daly , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Beckwith in the 86th minute of play forced Staithes's goalkeeper Seth Willoughby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pierre Daly sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
