Spectators: 6854 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1854, VIP seats: 0) Dennis Gower started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Asot's Leigh Lewis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clive Lowndes in the 5th minute of play. When Backwell AFC's Clive Lowndes in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Asot's goalie prevented a goal. The attack was good, but when Danny Cotterill in the 11th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. The audience was convinced that Danny Cotterill 's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kris Gillespie was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. 19 minutes into the game, Albert Porter was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Backwell AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Asot the free kick. A collision led to Backwell AFC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Albert Porter hit a great ball. After 27 played minutes Asot got a freekick which was hit by Sebastien Postolan . Carl Clement took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leigh Lewis. Leigh Lewis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Backwell AFC's Clive Lowndes got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Asot's zone, Clive Lowndes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leigh Lewis came out of the goal and Clive Lowndes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Asot's goalkeeper Leigh Lewis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kris Gillespie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Gower , who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Dennis Gower sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Clive Lowndes made a kick off. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Backwell AFC's goalkeeper Kris Gillespie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 58 minutes into the game, Clive Lowndes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Leigh Lewis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 60th match minute, Backwell AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wayne Peacock to maneuver through the defense. Backwell AFC's Kris Gillespie proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Backwell AFC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennis Gower in the 64th minute of play forced Backwell AFC's goalkeeper Kris Gillespie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th match minute, Asot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Willie Granville to maneuver through the defense. Carl Clement struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Leigh Lewis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Backwell AFC. 70 minutes into the game, Mark Benbow was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Backwell AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Asot the free kick. Mark Benbow hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. After having played for 74 minutes, Danny Cotterill managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Asot's supporters crossed their fingers, but Danny Cotterill was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julian Kaye hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. When Danny Cotterill came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Asot fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Cotterill couldn't finish the play. If Dennis Gower had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Danny Cotterill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Kris Gillespie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julian Kaye kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. If Danny Cotterill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Backwell AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
