Spectators: 6838 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1838, VIP seats: 0) Witney United's Trevor Berryman started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lucas Hurst during the 2nd minute. The corner ended in Graham Tipton almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Witney United's Norman Mumford did a great save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Philip Walsh in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Norman Mumford prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Trevor Berryman scored 1-0 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Peter Mason, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Norman Mumford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Philip Walsh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute Mick Henman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norman Mumford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peter Mason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trevor Berryman in the 43rd minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Philip Walsh made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th match minute, hpcsongi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lee Hume to maneuver through the defense. Alistair Tyrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trevor Berryman in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Peter Mason saved hpcsongi from getting behind. Peter Mason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trevor Berryman in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute Witney United were awarded a corner. Neil Warden went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Trevor Berryman got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 2-1. 88 minutes into the match. Alistair Tyrell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Mason having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Witney United players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
