Spectators: 6854 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1854, VIP seats: 0) Ciarán Rose started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 10th minute Ciarán Rose shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickey Clifton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Ciarán Rose managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sturminster Newton's supporters rose to their feet, but Ciarán Rose was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mickey Clifton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tod Kemp showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Warren Simpson in the 21st minute of the match. After 21 minutes, Devon Brontë mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sturminster Newton and the Ferryton United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ferryton United booed when Sturminster Newton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Devon Brontë didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tod Kemp made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Warren Simpson in the 22nd minute of play. Warren Simpson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Tod Kemp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute, Sturminster Newton's Ciarán Rose ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mickey Clifton . Mickey Clifton yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 40th minute, Devon Brontë hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brian Gerrard charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brian Gerrard the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 41 minutes into the game, one of Sturminster Newton:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Reg Bourton shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ferryton United's zone, Connor Blacknell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mickey Clifton came out of the goal and Connor Blacknell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Warren Simpson to make the kick off. Mickey Clifton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Connor Blacknell in the 55th minute of play. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ferryton United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Brian Gerrard was slow to take the kick. During this time Sturminster Newton's players had a chance to rest. If Connor Blacknell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, Sturminster Newton's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dylon Mumford fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Sturminster Newton's Connor Blacknell got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ferryton United's Mickey Clifton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Connor Blacknell in the 72nd minute of play. Tod Kemp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Warren Simpson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tod Kemp stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Warren Simpson's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. When Rhys Wagstaff fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sturminster Newton's protests and gave Rhys Wagstaff a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Sturminster Newton's Rhys Wagstaff got a free kick in the 77th minute. When Dylon Mumford came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Ferryton United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dylon Mumford couldn't finish the play. Warren Simpson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tod Kemp having to interfere. Sturminster Newton were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Ferryton United for a fine match.
