Seating: 1856, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Keith Griffiths got the match started through his kick off. 3 minutes in the game, Keith Griffiths fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Kev Deaconsfield having to interfere. Kenny Stiles charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kenny Stiles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Tunbridge Wells United booed when Nailsea AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kenny Stiles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute of the match Thomas Prutton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kenneth Chegwyn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Reuben Ryder fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tunbridge Wells United's protests and gave Reuben Ryder a yellow card for diving instead. Reuben Ryder hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Kev Deaconsfield made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Pedro Blakely sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Tunbridge Wells United getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Kasey Ashton hit a great ball. Kev Deaconsfield made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Blakely in the 12th minute. Darryl Carlick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kenneth Chegwyn having to interfere. The supporters of Tunbridge Wells United booed when Nailsea AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robin Froggatt didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute Darryl Carlick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kenneth Chegwyn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Tunbridge Wells United's goal looked a bit too open when Keith Griffiths came free, but Kev Deaconsfield reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Darryl Carlick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tunbridge Wells United's supporters rose to their feet, but Darryl Carlick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenneth Chegwyn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kenneth Chegwyn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eddie Dalton , who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Keith Griffiths fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kev Deaconsfield having to interfere. In the 34thth minute of the game Keith Griffiths who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tunbridge Wells United's Kev Deaconsfield was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Eddie Dalton came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Tunbridge Wells United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eddie Dalton couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Nailsea AFC defense, Eddie Dalton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kenneth Chegwyn . The Nailsea AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kenneth Chegwyn should have stopped the shot. Darryl Carlick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Kenneth Chegwyn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nailsea AFC's Kenneth Chegwyn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eddie Dalton in the 44th minute of play. Robin Froggatt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Kev Deaconsfield . Tunbridge Wells United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
Tunbridge Wells United were awarded a corner in the 61th minute after Nailsea AFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Thomas Prutton took the corner. The audience was convinced that Keith Griffiths 's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kev Deaconsfield was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Nailsea AFC's zone, Darryl Carlick stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. An unexpected shot in the 75th minute by Darryl Carlick got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Kenny Stiles was shown his second yellow card after 78 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 79 minutes into the match, Tunbridge Wells United's Thomas Prutton broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a rather tough play, Nailsea AFC's Keith Griffiths got a free kick in the 88th minute. Darryl Carlick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Pedro Blakely fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kev Deaconsfield having to interfere. After having played for 95 minutes, Darryl Carlick managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tunbridge Wells United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darryl Carlick was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 97 minutes into the match, Tunbridge Wells United's Darryl Carlick sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kenneth Chegwyn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Tunbridge Wells United eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
