Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Cliff Robson got the match started through his kick off. When Cliff Robson came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Annscroft City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cliff Robson couldn't finish the play. In the 7th play minute Mark Groves came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ben Boyd. 1-0. Matt Neville took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Frank Cooke. Notting Hill Gate City's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Cliff Robson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steve Barnes in the 17th minute of play forced Notting Hill Gate City's goalkeeper Frank Cooke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Annscroft City's Steve Barnes got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Cliff Robson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 30 played minutes Notting Hill Gate City got a freekick which was hit by Jason Benbow. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Notting Hill Gate City's goalkeeper Frank Cooke, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Steve Barnes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cliff Robson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Cooke having to interfere. Mark Groves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 44 minutes, Cliff Robson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Annscroft City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cliff Robson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Darren Middlewood was the one to do the kick off. Ben Boyd came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Notting Hill Gate City's Darren Middlewood. But to his dismay, Darren Middlewood quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. 57 minutes into the match, Annscroft City's goal looked a bit too open when Darren Middlewood came free, but Ben Boyd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Notting Hill Gate City booed when Annscroft City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rio Rowett didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Notting Hill Gate City's zone, Steve Barnes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Cooke came out of the goal and Steve Barnes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute of the match Tommy Goldthorpe shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Frank Cooke showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Darren Middlewood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Ben Boyd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Mark Groves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Notting Hill Gate City's supporters rose to their feet, but Mark Groves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ben Boyd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 72nd minute Jason Benbow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ben Boyd saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Cooke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cliff Robson, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Frank Cooke made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Steve Barnes sent off a good shot on target. Notting Hill Gate City's Frank Cooke proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Notting Hill Gate City from getting a goal against them. When Steve Barnes came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Annscroft City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steve Barnes couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Notting Hill Gate City getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Jason Benbow hit a great ball. Frank Cooke made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Steve Barnes sent off a good shot on target. Notting Hill Gate City's Frank Cooke proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Notting Hill Gate City from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Steve Barnes got free with Frank Cooke in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Notting Hill Gate City's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
