Spectators: 7969 (Terracing: 6000, Seating: 1800, VIP seats: 169) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Scott Lock started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute, Scott Lock got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Martyn Wedlock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 10 minutes into the match, Whitton AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Kenny Rushforth came free, but Stew Jenkinson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Al Baum took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Wedlock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Whitton AFC's Rory Moon couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 16th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Corby. If David Black had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Whitton AFC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Rory Moon hit a great ball. After having played for 25 minutes, David Black managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corby's supporters crossed their fingers, but David Black was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 29 minutes, Vernon Moxon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Whitton AFC and the Corby players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 34thth minute of the game Kenny Rushforth who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Whitton AFC's Stew Jenkinson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If David Black had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Whitton AFC's Scott Lock in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Corby's goalie prevented a goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kenny Rushforth was the one to do the kick off. Martyn Wedlock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Al Baum having to interfere. Scott Lock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 55th match minute, Corby was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jordan Downes to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Rory Moon sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Corby's Al Baum didn't even have to move. Kenny Rushforth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Stew Jenkinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Martyn Wedlock came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Whitton AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martyn Wedlock couldn't finish the play. 69 minutes into the game, Scott Lock was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Whitton AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Corby the free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, David Black managed to get in a good position for a shot. Corby's supporters rose to their feet, but David Black was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stew Jenkinson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Corby booed when Whitton AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bryan Housham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Corby's Phil Allen couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 80th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Whitton AFC. David Black received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Stew Jenkinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 89 minutes, Martyn Wedlock managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Whitton AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martyn Wedlock was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Al Baum showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Scott Lock, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The Corby fans' excitement grew in the 92nd match minute when Corby's David Black looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Corby's Ryan Woods got a free kick in the 95th minute. Corby's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
