In the 4th minute, Lincoln United's Deon Best ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Reg Hinchcliffe. Reg Hinchcliffe yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 15 minutes into the game, Billie Gray cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Charlie Dobbs was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Shawn Mallett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Deon Best fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reg Hinchcliffe having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Billie Gray put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Charlie Dobbs. If Shawn Mallett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Mhurphys Fury F.C. booed when Lincoln United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billie Brontë didn't get a good kick on the ball. Perry Hermon struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Reg Hinchcliffe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lincoln United. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Billie Gray stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Shawn Mallett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Deon Best received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Reg Hinchcliffe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ian Markham charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ian Markham the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ian Markham hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Reg Hinchcliffe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shawn Mallett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Billie Gray blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Charlie Dobbs having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Neil Sadler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mhurphys Fury F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Neil Sadler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charlie Dobbs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Neil Sadler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mhurphys Fury F.C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
