Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Geoff Rogers made the kick off which started today's match. Owen Whittaker struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Vernon Clendinning didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lewisham. Geoff Rogers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute of the match, Joshua Reid got a very nice opportunity to score, but Marc Donaldson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 20 minutes into the match, Owen Whittaker had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vernon Clendinning. Horncastle's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Owen Whittaker was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, Horncastle's Barrie Sherman got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute Geoff Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vernon Clendinning saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vernon Clendinning showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carl Seaward, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Marc Donaldson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jane Davenport in the 32nd minute of the match. Marc Donaldson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Don Taylor in the 33rd minute of play. When Owen Whittaker came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Lewisham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Owen Whittaker couldn't finish the play. Barrie Sherman hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Lewisham's Carl Seaward got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 38th minute, Michael Harrison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joshua Reid got free with Marc Donaldson in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 45 played minutes Horncastle got a freekick which was hit by Joshua Reid. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jane Davenport stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Jane Davenport shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marc Donaldson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55th minute, Ozzy Wooding hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marc Donaldson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joshua Reid in the 56th minute of play. The supporters of Horncastle booed when Lewisham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Grant Pointon didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joshua Reid in the 58th minute of play forced Lewisham's goalkeeper Marc Donaldson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grant Pointon hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Vernon Clendinning didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 65th minute, which inside left pole to 0-2. Grant Pointon kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. In the 71st minute of the match Sam Campbell shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marc Donaldson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Lewisham's Marc Donaldson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joshua Reid in the 72nd minute of play. Marc Donaldson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jane Davenport , who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joshua Reid in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marc Donaldson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joshua Reid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Marc Donaldson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marc Donaldson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barrie Sherman in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th minute, Barrie Sherman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 92 minutes, Frank Key mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lewisham and the Horncastle players grew even worse after the yellow card. Frank Key kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Lewisham left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Horncastle.
