Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jane Davenport took the kick off in the first half of the match. Vernon Clendinning stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dennis Salmon's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. In the 14thth minute of the game Dennis Salmon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Horncastle's Vernon Clendinning was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dennis Salmon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Vernon Clendinning tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Barrie Sherman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Triquetra AFC's Dennis Salmon in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dennis Salmon in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vernon Clendinning saved Horncastle from getting behind. Vernon Clendinning showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willie Talbot, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Dennis Salmon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vernon Clendinning. Horncastle's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dennis Salmon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Renato Cardoso's late challenge caught a Horncastle's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Renato Cardoso helped the player get up and apologised. After 33 played minutes Triquetra AFC got a freekick which was hit by Renato Cardoso. In the 34th minute of the match, Sam Campbell sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Sammy Nethercot showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. Sammy Nethercot made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Joshua Reid sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 40 minutes, Dennis Salmon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Triquetra AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dennis Salmon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sammy Nethercot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jane Davenport in the 46th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dennis Salmon made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Dennis Salmon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dennis Salmons short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Vernon Clendinning to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Dennis Salmon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dennis Salmon in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vernon Clendinning prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Triquetra AFC's Dennis Salmon got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Horncastle's Barrie Sherman got a free kick in the 66th minute. Dennis Salmon's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 67thth minute, Vernon Clendinning skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 70th minute, Jane Davenport hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Triquetra AFC fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when Triquetra AFC's Dennis Salmon looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 77th minute, Dennis Salmon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Horncastle getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Jane Davenport hit a great ball. Dennis Salmon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vernon Clendinning having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Horncastle's goal looked a bit too open when Dennis Salmon came free, but Vernon Clendinning reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, James Humphreys managed to get in a good position for a shot. Triquetra AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but James Humphreys was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vernon Clendinning breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Dennis Salmon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vernon Clendinning stood somewhat misplaced when Dennis Salmon came free in front of goal and shot 0-6 to the left of him in the 88 minute. Horncastle's Vernon Clendinning proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Horncastle from getting a goal against them. If Willie Talbot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Dennis Salmon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Triquetra AFC played a much better game than Horncastle and deserved their victory. The Horncastle players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
