After a rather tough play, Tenbury Wells's Bob Garforth got a free kick in the 4th minute. Ted Hoult's late challenge caught a Ballymoney Athletic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ted Hoult helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ballymoney Athletic booed when Tenbury Wells was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ted Hoult didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Caleb Bell got free with Greg Reddington in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 19th minute, Caleb Bell fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After a rather tough play, Tenbury Wells's Ted Hoult got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 23rd minute Rich Pennant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Greg Reddington saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Greg Reddington made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caleb Bell in the 25th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Rich Pennant managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballymoney Athletic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rich Pennant was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Caleb Bell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute Rich Pennant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Greg Reddington saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes into the game, Austin Parrott was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tenbury Wells's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ballymoney Athletic the free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Sly MacDonnell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballymoney Athletic's supporters rose to their feet, but Sly MacDonnell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Greg Reddington breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rich Pennant made a kick off. Caleb Bell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Greg Reddington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ballymoney Athletic's zone, Bob Garforth stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frankie Cardwell came out of the goal and Bob Garforth tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute, Caleb Bell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rich Pennant in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Greg Reddington saved Tenbury Wells from getting behind. The supporters of Ballymoney Athletic booed when Tenbury Wells was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Austin Parrott didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caleb Bell took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Greg Reddington. Greg Reddington dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Sid Legg kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Caleb Bell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Greg Reddington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rich Pennant in the 81st minute of play. When Ballymoney Athletic's Rich Pennant in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tenbury Wells's goalie prevented a goal. Ted Hoult was shown his second yellow card after 87 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Greg Reddington took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rich Pennant, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Greg Reddington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rich Pennant in the 94th minute of play. In the 96th minute, Caleb Bell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ballymoney Athletic fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ballymoney Athletic had played much better football throughout.
