In the 46th minute Ronny Corby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Don Griffiths saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Matt Stockdale fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Workington's protests and gave Matt Stockdale a yellow card for diving instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ronny Corby to make the kick off. In the 62nd minute, Bradley Topham got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 68 minutes into the match, Cirencester's goal looked a bit too open when Bradley Topham came free, but Willie Biernat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Don Griffiths dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. 80 minutes into the match, Cirencester's goalkeeper Willie Biernat had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlton Inman. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Bradley Topham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Workington's supporters rose to their feet, but Bradley Topham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Willie Biernat breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 84th match minute, Workington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matt Stockdale to maneuver through the defense. Tommy Nethercott 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Don Griffiths read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Cirencester's Tommy Nethercott got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Workington's Don Griffiths played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronny Corby in the 92nd minute of play.
