Spectators: 9221 (Terracing: 6917, Seating: 2121, VIP seats: 183) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Carlton Inman started the match with the kick off. After some careless play in the Yapton defense, Bradley Topham kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcus King. The Yapton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcus King should have stopped the shot. In the 8th minute, Rich Lambert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jim Haylock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Marcus King tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Yapton getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Miles Mabbutt hit a great ball. Carlton Inman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus King having to interfere. In the 18th minute Bradley Topham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcus King saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Yapton getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Miles Mabbutt hit a great ball. After 21 minutes, Pierce Porter made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Yapton's Marcus King tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Tony Stone was extremely unlucky when he, in the 25th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 乔棋骏 kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Pierce Porter made a precise shot to the right of Marcus King. Yapton's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Bradley Topham hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Geoff McParland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Don Griffiths tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Geoff McParland might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Don Griffiths. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geoff McParland ran back to his position shaking his head. Lance Kennedy kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After having played for 41 minutes, Tony Stone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yapton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tony Stone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Workington booed when Yapton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. 乔棋骏 didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Yapton getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Justin Leatherdale hit a great ball. In the 47th minute of the match Matt Stockdale shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcus King showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After the first half Workington were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tony Stone to strike the kick off in the second half. Don Griffiths stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geoff McParland's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. When Tony Stone, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 57 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Don Griffiths was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Geoff McParland took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Don Griffiths. Don Griffiths dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Geoff McParland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Workington's Carlton Inman slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marcus King. That made the score 1-4 after 64 minutes of play. 69 minutes into the match, Workington's goal looked a bit too open when Geoff McParland came free, but Don Griffiths reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute, Keanu Ambrose hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute, Bradley Topham ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcus King was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. Don Griffiths stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geoff McParland's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Tony Stone managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yapton's supporters rose to their feet, but Tony Stone was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Don Griffiths breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Tony Stone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Workington's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
