Rotherham's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pierce Porter was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Workington's Joe Bridge got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 67 minutes into the match, Rotherham's goal looked a bit too open when Pierce Porter came free, but Derek Rashleigh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pierce Porter in the 68th minute of play forced Rotherham's goalkeeper Derek Rashleigh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 69 played minutes Rotherham got a freekick which was hit by Julian Waddington. Workington's Don Griffiths proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Workington from getting a goal against them. Ashley Roebuck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Don Griffiths having to interfere. Derek Rashleigh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. Julian Waddington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
