Marlon Mumford recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 柯誉海 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ali Vedat Kabataş in the 9th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Ergün Senih put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Rick Kessler. Menderes Özdoa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Rick Kessler made a huge save. Rick Kessler made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Freddie Boston sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anselmo Spione in the 22nd minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper 柯誉海 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Freddie Boston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Garstang AFC's Rick Kessler got control of the ball when Freddie Boston tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Freddie Boston kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rick Kessler. That made the score 2-1 in the 31 minute of play. In the 34thth minute of the game Ergün Senih who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Garstang AFC's Rick Kessler was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 35th match minute, Garstang AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anselmo Spione to maneuver through the defense. Freddie Boston scored 3-1 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rick Kessler, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ergün Senih could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Rick Kessler made a huge save. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Ergün Senih made the kick off in the second half. When Marlon Mumford came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marlon Mumford couldn't finish the play. Rick Kessler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Freddie Boston, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, Garstang AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Freddie Boston came free, but Rick Kessler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Flamengo's Ergün Senih got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Flamengo's 柯誉海 proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo from getting a goal against them. If Marlon Mumford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 71st minute Ergün Senih shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rick Kessler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rick Kessler came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Flamengo's Menderes Özdoa. But to his dismay, Menderes Özdoa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. 79 minutes into the game, Flamengo's Ergün Senih nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rick Kessler made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. After some careless play in the Garstang AFC defense, Menderes Özdoa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rick Kessler. The Garstang AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rick Kessler should have stopped the shot. In the 87th minute, Ergün Senih ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rick Kessler was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-1. Marlon Mumford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Rick Kessler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Garstang AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
