The Gomersal AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mateo Romo should have stopped the shot. In the 19th minute Sam Murray shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateo Romo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mateo Romo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvester Crichton in the 20th minute of play. Mateo Romo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gregory Dowie's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Alex Kent took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anderson Pernambucano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gomersal AFC's Mateo Romo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louie Story-Moore in the 25th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sam Murray got free with Mateo Romo in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Gomersal AFC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Thorne FC to win.
