Tara FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Barclay Dalton in the 24th minute. Leon Caffey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 38 minutes, Brendon Gough managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tara FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brendon Gough was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Derryclure FC's goalkeeper Blathma John had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Don Martyn.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Don Martyn was the one to do the kick off. Briain McDecland's late challenge caught a Tara FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Briain McDecland helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Derryclure FC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Briain McDecland hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brendon Gough in the 90th minute of play forced Derryclure FC's goalkeeper Blathma John to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tormaigh McJames during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Blathma John didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Don Martyn went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. For all the effort they put into the match, the Derryclure FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tara FC.
