The crowd rose to their feet as Ciarán Murphy kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rowan Gallagher. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. If Eoghan Tracy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Breck Mullan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Suibhne Branson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ryan Hughes's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. Irwin McJohnny's late challenge caught a Barnalisheen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Berrin McWillie might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rowan Gallagher. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Berrin McWillie ran back to his position shaking his head. Barnalisheen's Rowan Gallagher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciarán Murphy in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ciarán Murphy stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Berrin McWillie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rowan Gallagher was relentless in the 54th minute of the game.
