Baine Ramsey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reginald Dempsey, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Aengus Scully kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Reginald Dempsey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baine Ramsey having to interfere. Reginald Dempsey struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Baine Ramsey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gortleatilla. Gortleatilla's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when Boethis Cooney scored to the left of an out of position Trevor Gough, making the score, 1-1. In the 23rd match minute, Derryheena was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timothy Hamilton to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reginald Dempsey in the 26th minute of play forced Derryheena's goalkeeper Baine Ramsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Reginald Dempsey's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Baine Ramsey was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Beglan Tracy came free with the goalkeeper in the 41st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Trevor Gough could save by the left post. After 44 minutes of play, Gortleatilla's Reginald Dempsey made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Baine Ramsey was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Gortleatilla were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reginald Dempsey stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Reginald Dempsey's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Baine Ramsey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Derryheena's Baine Ramsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reginald Dempsey in the 60th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Artuir McSteve got free with Baine Ramsey in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Baine Ramsey made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Artuir McSteve sent off a good shot on target. Baine Ramsey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reginald Dempsey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 72 minutes into the game, Derryheena's Beglan Tracy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trevor Gough made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Derryheena's Baine Ramsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reginald Dempsey in the 75th minute of play. Randal Coyle hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Trevor Gough showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaine Myler, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Reginald Dempsey received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Baine Ramsey came out and tried to block the shot, but Reginald Dempsey slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 81st minute. Artuir McSteve received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Baine Ramsey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Artuir McSteve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the match, Derryheena's goal looked a bit too open when Reginald Dempsey came free, but Baine Ramsey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Derryheena's Baine Ramsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reginald Dempsey in the 95th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Gortleatilla left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Derryheena.
