The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the match, Derryheena's goal looked a bit too open when Kain Gough came free, but Baine Ramsey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Caherbarnagh's Breslin Mullan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Baine Ramsey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The long shot by Kaine Myler in the 23rd minute really tested Saoirse McPhilip's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Derryheena's zone, Kain Gough stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baine Ramsey came out of the goal and Kain Gough tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Binnech McDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baine Ramsey having to interfere. A collision led to Derryheena getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Beglan Tracy hit a great ball. Caherbarnagh's Teagan Ramsey managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Antaine McBjarton in the 39 minute of the game. Teagan Ramsey hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Caherbarnagh's Saoirse McPhilip got control of the ball when Beglan Tracy tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Caherbarnagh. When the match had been going on for 49 minutes, Derryheena's Kaine Myler got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Saoirse McPhilip. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Breslin Mullan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Baine Ramsey was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Kerrigan Grant. After a defensive mix-up in Derryheena's zone, Binnech McDonald stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baine Ramsey came out of the goal and Binnech McDonald tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 74th play minute Breslin Mullan came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Baine Ramsey. 1-4. Teagan Ramsey kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 83 minutes into the match, Breslin Mullan notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of Derryheena's Baine Ramsey. Baine Ramsey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kerrigan Grant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Derryheena's Bat Lester got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Caherbarnagh's Teagan Ramsey quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Antaine McBjarton, made in the 96th minute of the game. After having played for 97 minutes, Teagan Ramsey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caherbarnagh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teagan Ramsey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
