With his leg Flann McGlynn managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when Gattabaun's Donan McTom fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 6th minute, Duff Tierney ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bard Mullan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 10th minute, Babe Kelly fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Bard Mullan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Breenan McNamara, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Flann McGlynn made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Donan McTom sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Logan Caffrey during the 16th minute. Bard Mullan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breenan McNamara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute, Donan McTom made a precise shot to the right of Flann McGlynn. Clonee Utd's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 46th match minute, Gattabaun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis McWill to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Babe Kelly was the one to do the kick off. Donan McTom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flann McGlynn having to interfere. If Donan McTom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Logan Caffrey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gattabaun's supporters rose to their feet, but Logan Caffrey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flann McGlynn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gattabaun's Babe Kelly got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Clonee Utd defense, Babe Kelly kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Flann McGlynn. The Clonee Utd fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flann McGlynn should have stopped the shot. 70 minutes into the match, Breenan McNamara notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Gattabaun's Bard Mullan. Bard Mullan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Flann McGlynn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Babe Kelly, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Babe Kelly succeeded in the game's 80th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-2. Gattabaun's Donan McTom got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Babe Kelly in the 87th minute of play forced Clonee Utd's goalkeeper Flann McGlynn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flann McGlynn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donan McTom in the 88th minute of the match. After 91 played minutes Gattabaun got a freekick which was hit by Dennis McWill. After 92 played minutes, Clonee Utd's Bat McJon shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bard Mullan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Clonee Utd reached it. 93 minutes into the game, Brasil McAaron was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gattabaun's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clonee Utd the free kick. A collision led to Gattabaun getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Brasil McAaron hit a great ball.
