Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ros Doherty started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. If Donan McTom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Donan McTom came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Gattabaun fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donan McTom couldn't finish the play. 13 minutes into the game, Bairee Myler was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Derren's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gattabaun the free kick. Ros Doherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Derren's goalkeeper Brigid Doherty, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Brigid Doherty was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Babe Kelly capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Babe Kelly really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. If Ros Doherty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gattabaun's Babe Kelly saw an opening behind the goalie Brigid Doherty in the 35thth minute and tried to shoot past into the top right corner, but with great reflexes Brigid Doherty with one arm managed to save the shot in the last secound. In the 42nd minute Babe Kelly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brigid Doherty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute, Pembroke John hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 48 minutes into the match, Babe Kelly dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Brigid Doherty, 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Gattabaun's Bard Mullan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Gattabaun from getting a goal against them. Babe Kelly struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Brigid Doherty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gattabaun. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Donan McTom managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gattabaun's supporters rose to their feet, but Donan McTom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brigid Doherty breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Donan McTom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brigid Doherty having to interfere. After having played for 78 minutes, Babe Kelly managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gattabaun's supporters crossed their fingers, but Babe Kelly was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 82 minutes, Logan Caffrey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gattabaun and the Derren players grew even worse after the yellow card. Donan McTom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brigid Doherty having to interfere. Bard Mullan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ros Doherty in the 91st minute of play. In the 91st minute, Dennis McWill hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ros Doherty in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bard Mullan saved Gattabaun from getting behind. Dennis McWill kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. In the 95th minute Ros Doherty shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bard Mullan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bragan McDecland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bard Mullan having to interfere. Derren's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
