In the 27th minute of the match, Riddoc Savic got a very nice opportunity to score, but Shane Coyle was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 29 minutes of play, Clifferna Utd's Riddoc Savic made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Shane Coyle was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 33rd minute of the match Arnold Rutherford sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donavan O'Down skillfully saved the ball. If Dawayne Morrison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clontarf's Branagain Palmer got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dawayne Morrison in the 42nd minute of play forced Clifferna Utd's goalkeeper Donavan O'Down to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Clontarf's Shane Coyle got control of the ball when Riddoc Savic tried to sneak it across the goal line. Shane Coyle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dermod Murphy in the 48th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Dawayne Morrison blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donavan O'Down having to make a save. In the 55th minute Dermod Murphy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shane Coyle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dawayne Morrison sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Braonain McSteve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donavan O'Down having to interfere. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Clifferna Utd's goalkeeper Donavan O'Down, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Donavan O'Down was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Branagain Palmer capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Branagain Palmer really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. The audience was convinced that Riddoc Savic's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Shane Coyle was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Dermod Murphy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute, Riddoc Savic got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Clontarf's Branagain Palmer slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Donavan O'Down. That made the score 1-2 after 79 minutes of play. Donavan O'Down stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dawayne Morrison's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Dawayne Morrison sped through Clifferna Utd's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Donavan O'Down. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dermod Murphy in the 89th minute of play forced Clontarf's goalkeeper Shane Coyle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Clontarf's Braonain McSteve got a free kick in the 90th minute. Clifferna Utd's Donavan O'Down proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Clifferna Utd from getting a goal against them. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Clontarf walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
