Spectators: 6769 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1769, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Declan Ghee started the match with the kick off. When Bevin O'Neill fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ardfinnan FC's protests and gave Bevin O'Neill a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th match minute, Ardfinnan FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bevin O'Neill to maneuver through the defense. Heron Gillmour received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Paul Dempsey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Heron Gillmour had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 48th minute Heron Gillmour shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Dempsey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Darick O'Down kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Pierce Martyn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ardfinnan FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pierce Martyn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Burke Morrison breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paul Dempsey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geoffrey Deery in the 70th minute of play. Paul Dempsey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geoffrey Deery's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Bevin O'Neill hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Burke Morrison took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Declan Ghee , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 87 played minutes Ardfinnan FC got a freekick which was hit by Bren McTommy. Burke Morrison made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Pierce Martyn sent off a good shot on target. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
