The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Louie McTom hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Paul Dempsey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Breffni McJohn in the 8th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Finn Bayes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Greencastle FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ardfinnan FC the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Greencastle FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 9th minute. Penalty! Paul Dempsey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Breffni McJohn in the 15th minute of play. Ardfinnan FC's Paul Dempsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Braeden McSteve in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th match minute, Ardfinnan FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bevin O'Neill to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Ardfinnan FC's Aban McIan got a free kick in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Braeden McSteve in the 23rd minute of play forced Ardfinnan FC's goalkeeper Paul Dempsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Bardain McFrancise was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Greencastle FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ardfinnan FC the free kick. After 25 played minutes Greencastle FC got a freekick which was hit by Bardain McFrancise. In the 29th minute, one of Greencastle FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Greencastle FC. Bren McTommy walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Braeden McSteve in the 33rd minute of play forced Ardfinnan FC's goalkeeper Paul Dempsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Braeden McSteve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Dempsey having to interfere. When Bardain McFrancise came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Greencastle FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bardain McFrancise couldn't finish the play. Bardain McFrancise sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Braeden McSteve recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bracken Branson in the 48th minute of play forced Ardfinnan FC's goalkeeper Paul Dempsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Declan Ghee made a kick off. Greencastle FC's Benjamin McBjarton got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Irving McTom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pierce Martyn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 58 minutes, Aban McIan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ardfinnan FC and the Greencastle FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Declan Ghee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Braeden McSteve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Dempsey having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, Greencastle FC's Benjamin McBjarton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paul Dempsey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pierce Martyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Irving McTom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Braeden McSteve's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paul Dempsey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Benjamin McBjarton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Braeden McSteve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Greencastle FC's goalkeeper Irving McTom, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Braeden McSteve struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Paul Dempsey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Greencastle FC. In the 91st minute, Braeden McSteve got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Braeden McSteve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Dempsey having to interfere. Bracken Branson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paul Dempsey having to make a save.
