Rathkip's Patty McIan suffered a sore foot after 15 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 16 minutes, Salmon Tracy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Beaumont FC and the Rathkip players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Rathkip booed when Beaumont FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salmon Tracy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daithi Murphy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barrie McGlynn having to interfere. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Daithi Murphy sped through Beaumont FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Barrie McGlynn. 28 minutes into the match, Beaumont FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daithi Murphy came free, but Barrie McGlynn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the game, Rathkip's Daithi Murphy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Beaumont FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daithi Murphy to make the kick off. Barrie McGlynn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rathkip. Beaumont FC's Barrie McGlynn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daithi Murphy in the 82nd minute of play. Branigan Caffrey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Barrie McGlynn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Rathkip's Berry Hughes got a free kick in the 88th minute. If Barde McMichel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Daithi Murphy came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Rathkip fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daithi Murphy couldn't finish the play.
